It’s going to be the showbiz wedding of the year – at least if you’re a fan of all things Westeros.
Because Jon Snow is finally tying the knot – to non-other than Ygritte.
Yes, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s wedding is almost here… in fact, it’s tomorrow.
Having let only a few small details regarding their union leak out into the public domain, new pictures from the Scottish castle where they will wed have shed a little more light details.
Last month it was revealed that the couple had set a date, with announced that they would be tying the knot on 23 June, with the pair posting a notice at Huntly registration office in Aberdeenshire – 15 miles from Rose’s family home of Wardhill Castle.
]And new pictures of Wardhill, which is owned and lived in by Rose’s older brother, show that the couple are getting married in style.
Set in the grounds of a house is a small but quaint church, located just off the winding drive – close by to a pond which would make a great backdrop for photos.
Further on down the curving track is the actual castle, which dates back to the 12th Century; though it seems that the reception won’t be held in its beautifully appointed interior.
As pictures of the castle show the couple have gone for a large and luxurious marquee that has been set up in the grounds of the castle in a paddock flanked by trees.
The large white tent has a solid wooden floor and is open on the sides to allow guest a view of the grounds as the sun sets.
It also features a raised section of decking with benches; while out the back there are two smaller closed-off tents dedicated for prep
The pair will wed nine months after announcing their engagement, which they listed in the Forthcoming Marriages section of The Times newspaper, in September last year.
The notice read: ‘The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.’
Kit has previously revealed that he asked producers to shut down filming on Thrones’ final season so his castmates could attend the big day.
He said: ‘I rang up [the producer] and I said, “I’m getting married and it’s your fault actually”… I think for the final season he is so stressed that he’s reached that peaceful level. I was like, “You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.” They have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.’
