Jaime Lannister is still alive in Game of Thrones. The signs are all there.
What would have potentially been the best, arguably only, twist in season eight has been accidentally exposed by the cast’s silence after Jaime (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) were crushed in the ruins of the Queen’s own palace in scenes not worthy of a telenovela.
Or were they?
Both Lena and Nikolaj are yet to actually mention anything about Jaime’s death as if it never happened while Cersei is getting all sorts of tributes from every actor to ever step foot in Westeros.
Where was Gwendoline Christie’s nod to Brienne of Tarth’s first love? We’re waiting, Gwen.
It doesn’t add up – unless, of course, there’s life in Jaime yet.
As speculation surrounding the villain-turned-hero-turned-villain continues to soar going into this weekend’s finale, Lena appears to have only fueled the fire further with a comical Instagram post recreating her final scene with Lego, which you can enjoy below:
Turns out Lena is actually barrel of laughs. Good to know. But has she also given the game away?
As you can see Lena has chosen to only hurl Lego rubble on Cersei, when in the death, which has sparked a petition to scrap season eight altogether and start again, her queen was cradled in the arms of her lover. So where is Jaime’s figurine then?
The fandom have been quick to pick up on the absence of Jaime and immediately jumped to one conclusion:
‘Jaime certainly survived,’ wrote one of Lena’s 3.2 million followers, while another asked in an apt use of caps lock: ‘WHAT ABOUT JAIME.’
A third echoed their poignant observation: ‘Where’s Jaime though 👀 also I’m still crying.’
Steering into this weekend’s finale, HBO released the first look pictures of Daenerys addressing the people of King’s Landing, after burning down their city and their loved ones. Tyrion Lannister, understandably, looks furious while the last time we saw Arya Stark, it was pretty clear who had been added to her kill list.
Game of Thrones concludes Sunday at 9pm on HBO and will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic here in the UK. Seasons one to seven are currently available to stream on NOW TV.
