The internet’s collective jaw hit the floor when Ser Arlan of Pennytree (Danny Webb) appeared on screen in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 2 with his, shall we say, impressive anatomical features fully on display. But here’s the thing everyone wanted to know: was it real or was it Hollywood magic? The prosthetics designer who actually created the “weapon” finally spilled all the behind-the-scenes details, and honestly, it’s even more wild than you’d expect.

The prosthetic marvel that broke the internet

The team at Waldo Mason FX didn’t hold back when explaining what went into creating Ser Arlan’s legendary endowment. “We were asked to create a 10″ prosthetic penis for the fantastic Danny Webb (Ser Arlan of Pennytree) to wear, naked. Luckily, he was a consummate professional and was happy to work with us to make it as realistic as possible, coming in for fittings that culminated in a very intimate application process in a white tent in the Belfast countryside.”

The level of detail they went into is genuinely impressive. “Because of the size we reinforced the contact area & edges with wig lace for minimal stretch under its weight and makeup designer Pippa Woods and Lucille Harding applied a knotted merkin, hiding any visible edges. It also contained tubing for urination, which we taped down the back of his leg.” This wasn’t just a quick slap-on job—this was craftsmanship.

When Ira Parker “forgot” if it was real or prosthetic

Leave it to showrunner Ira Parker to add some comedy to the whole situation. When asked about whether the prosthetic was real, Parker played dumb in the most entertaining way possible. “Was that a prosthetic? I forget. I thought he just showed up on set that way, but maybe it was prosthetic.”

The man was clearly joking (especially since he referenced Boogie Nights in the same breath, where Mark Wahlberg famously wears an enormous prosthetic), but it’s the kind of perfectly timed comedic deflection that makes you love him even more.
