Good news for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans who can’t get enough of Dunk (Peter Claffey) and Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell)—the show’s already in production on season 2 and it’s coming sooner than you might think. HBO greenlighted the renewal months before the show even premiered (talk about confidence in a new series), and showrunner Ira Parker already has some details about what the production timeline looks like. Spoiler alert: it’s a grind, but the team is already making magic happen.

Quick read:

  • Season 2 production already rolling with 10 days filmed

  • Ira Parker reveals 14-week filming schedule is longer than season 1

  • A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 arrives in 2027

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 production is already underway

Parker didn’t waste any time getting rolling on season 2 once the premiere aired. “We’ve shot 10 days of Season 2,” Parker said in January, before clarifying how the weird production schedule actually works. “We [took] a month break for Christmas, and then for this and premiere week, and then we come back and do a lot of work. So it’s a weird schedule, but I’m happy we got those 10 days in before. We’ve shot some very nice stuff.” It’s the kind of hustle that shows the confidence HBO has in the project—they’re literally not stopping to breathe between seasons.

The 2027 arrival and filming timeline

Here’s the thing though: you’re gonna have to wait a minute. Parker says, ‘It’s a week longer than Season 1, so it’s about 14 weeks we have.’” That puts the premiere squarely in 2027, which means this isn’t exactly a quick turnaround. But given how ambitious season 1 was with its scope and detail, a proper production schedule makes sense. HBO announced the season 2 premiere would arrive in 2027 at the same time they revealed the early renewal back in November, so fans have been in the know for a while now.
