The Danish actor will step onto the pitch for the star-studded charity football match on Sunday, 31 May 2026, at London Stadium. Coster-Waldau played the Kingslayer for eight seasons, becoming one of the most complex characters in the entire series. From golden knight to prisoner, hand of the king, and eventual redemption arc, Jaime Lannister left a lasting mark on television history. Now fans get to see the actor trade his sword for football boots in a very different kind of battle; all for a great cause.
What is Soccer Aid for UNICEF?
Soccer Aid for UNICEF is an annual celebrity football match that raises millions for UNICEF’s work with children around the world. The format pits an England XI against a World XI made up of international stars, musicians, comedians, and actors. Past participants have included legends from sport and entertainment, making it one of the most entertaining charity events on the calendar.

A win for charity and fans
For Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, this appearance continues his tradition of using his fame for good causes. For Game of Thrones fans, it’s a rare chance to see one of their favourite actors in a completely new light; running, tackling, and (hopefully) scoring in front of thousands of supporters.
