Alicent’s big confession
In a new interview on The Claudia Winkleman Show, the actress who plays Alicent Hightower delivered a candid and dramatic preview of what’s coming for her character:
“Well, I have accidentally put my son on the throne… So we’re really facing the fallout from my mistake. And we’re coming to the season at the brink of civil war, and I’ve parlayed my freedom for my son’s head.”
The quote instantly sparked discussion among fans, as it directly references Alicent’s role in crowning her son, Aegon II.

Facing the fallout
Cooke’s words suggest season 3 will open with Alicent dealing with the heavy consequences of her actions. By the end of season 2, Alicent had already begun to question her choices, especially after the deaths of key figures on both sides. This tease continues the show’s portrayal of Alicent as a woman caught in events larger than herself; someone whose decisions, whether intentional or accidental, have set the entire realm on fire.
