Production resumes after flooding setback
Unprecedented rainfall recently submerged parts of the Las Niñas Dam set in Gran Canaria, forcing HBO to pause filming for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2. Rather than moving production to mainland Spain, the team pivoted to La Fortaleza de Ansite, a rugged site in the Las Tirajanas Ravine.
This elevated terrain is less vulnerable to flooding, allowing work to continue without repeating the same weather-related issues. Reports confirm that contingency planning was already in place, with production tents set up weeks earlier, enabling a swift transition.

Why the move matters for fans and the island
The relocation ensures that the series’ rollout schedule remains unaffected, preserving momentum for HBO’s critically acclaimed spinoff. Season 2 will adapt The Sworn Sword, continuing the journey of Dunk (Peter Claffey) and Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) from George R. R. Martin’s novellas.
