A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ showrunner, Ira Parker, has given fans a tantalising hint about season 2. He revealed that some familiar faces from season 1 are likely to cross paths with Dunk and Egg again. In a recent interview with Variety, Parker was asked whether characters from the first season could return. His answer started cautiously before landing on an emphatic note that has the fandom buzzing.
Quick read:
• Ira Parker confirmed that some characters from season 1 will return in season 2
• He reinforced the fact that the series remains in Dunk’s POV
• The second season will feature more new characters than old

Staying true to Dunk’s POV
Parker was clear about the show’s storytelling rules.
“We are in Dunk’s POV. Even minor lords and ladies, we don’t allow ourselves to go behind the scenes in their POVs. For better or for worse, that is the storytelling lens that we have set up for this show.”
This tight focus on the hedge knight and his squire has defined the series so far.
From “Probably” to “Yes”
When pressed on returns, Parker hesitated for a moment before delivering the line fans are quoting everywhere:
“Whether or not somebody will come in and out of Dunk’s world again, I would say probably. Westeros is a — yeah. Yes. That’s all I’ll say. Yes.”
The playful stumble and final “yes” suggest the writers are open to reunions or cameos without breaking the established POV structure. Season 2, which draws from The Sworn Sword, will continue to follow Dunk and Egg’s adventures across Westeros, where old acquaintances, and perhaps a few surprises, could naturally reappear.

What fans can expect
While Parker stopped short of naming characters, the comment has sparked speculation about returning allies, former foes, or even figures tied to the larger Targaryen and Blackfyre storylines. Importantly, any returns would serve Dunk’s journey rather than shifting focus away from him. Season 2 is all set to feature a new place (Dorne) and majorly new characters.
The wait for more official details continues. But Dunk’s world is about to get a little more crowded and fans couldn’t be happier.
