Game of Thrones fans, we have some new footage of the show’s eighth and final season to pore over. In a sizzle reel for HBO’s 2019 offerings played at tonight’s Golden Globe awards, the network gave viewers a quick look at Jon Snow’s return to Winterfell with Daenerys Targaryen at his side. Watch below!
Sansa greets Jon’s new squeeze with an appropriate amount of respect (“Winterfell is yours, your grace”), although we wonder if she’s not harboring some doubts. In our first look at the final season, we see Sansa embracing Jon and looking warily at someone confirmed to be Daenerys.
This new footage looks like it’s from the same scene. Along with Jon, Dany and Sansa, we also catch brief glimpses of Jorah Mormont and Brienne of Tarth.
Dany seems rather relaxed here, dropping her iron-faced “bend the knee” schtick from season 7; perhaps she’s trying to make a good impression on Jon’s family. Or maybe both Dany and Sansa are keeping their cards close to their chests during a tense moment. Where is Arya? Or Tyrion? I know I’m looking forward to the reunions between Arya and Jon and Tyrion and Sansa in particular.
It’s great to have new footage, although we’re still waiting on a full trailer. We not sure of the premiere date, either, although we know the final six episodes will kick off sometime in April.
What did everyone think of the new clip? Is Sansa’s deference genuine? Or is there trouble brewing at Winterfell?
