Dexter Sol Ansell aka Egg from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has revealed a delightful full-circle moment from his life that sounds almost too perfect to be true.
In a recent chat with Next Best Picture, Ansell admitted he had zero familiarity with Game of Thrones or the wider Westeros universe before landing the role of young Egg. However, fate had already given him a major hint years earlier.

The accidental Iron Throne encounter
When asked if he knew anything about the franchise before getting the gig, Dexter replied:

“No, I’d never heard of it. But actually a few years before — I want to say six years before — my mom had never watched it or seen it, but my other cousins were huge fans. We stumbled across this throne and we were like, ‘Oh, if this looks cool, this looks like you’re the king. Go and sit on that.’ And we took a picture on that, and it turns out that was the Iron Throne. And we didn’t know years later I’d be in the same show, which was a bit crazy. That is really, really crazy, actually.”
The story perfectly captures the innocent charm of a child unknowingly stepping into one of the most iconic props in television history. While his cousins were fans of the show, young Dexter and his mom had no idea they were posing on the actual Iron Throne during what was probably a casual visit to an exhibition or set tour. There’s even a picture of this moment on his Instagram, where we can see a little Dexter sitting on the throne.
Random tourist to prince Egg
Six years after innocently sitting on the symbol of power, Dexter Sol Ansell is now officially part of the Game of Thrones universe, playing one of the most important Targaryens in Westerosi history — the future King Aegon V, also known as Egg.
His journey from clueless kid to Targaryen prince is one of the sweetest “meant to be” stories to come out of the franchise in recent years. He’s still very young to be watching any of the Westerosi world content, which he might eventually dive in after becoming of appropriate age.
