Youtube channel 3D Maker Things, which specializes in very large format and life-size print jobs, just completed a life-size replica of Drogon, the largest of the three dragons from the Game of Thrones series. With an almost three and a half meter wingspan, the print replicates Drogon in his teenage years (you know, when he ran around burning up sheep and the occasional kid) but it is nonetheless an impressive feat. You can see the project taking shape in this video.

At 3dpbm we love life-size prints and we follow many of the latest works published on the Life-size 3D Print Facebook community. These amazing DIY projects give us an idea of how far affordable printing technologies have come and the possibilities they offer to those with great ideas and skills.

The 1:1 teenage digital Drogon sculpture measures 47″ (120 cm) in height, 126″ (320 cm) in width and 99″ (250 cm) in length. It weights more than 35 Kg (77 Lbs) and took over 2000 hours of printing. It was printed using PLA with a total of four 3D printers: RAISE3D N2 PLUS (32x32x60cm), a CR10 S5 (50x50x50cm), a Prusa i3 extended(20x30x20cm), and an Alfawise U20 (30x30x40cm). The digital 3D model was created mainly using Meshmixer and Zbrush.
