Ready for the ultimate release? Emilia Clarke has offered a vivid descriptor of what it was like wrapping her journey as Daenerys Targaryen on Game Of Thrones.
The show’s final season is a month away, with HBO dishing out trailers and teasers at a growing rate to drive up anticipation from fever pitch to physical breakdown.
While viewers might be mourning waving goodbye to a TV phenomenon (pushing the spin-offs aside), some of the cast have found the entire endgame experience a bra-popping relief.
Speaking to Harpers Bazaar, Clarke detailed how taking off her bra at the end of a day is big part of her self-care routine, before describing the feeling of ending Game Of Thrones.
‘I think ending it was just the mother of all releases,’ Clarke said.
‘It was just the metaphorical undoing of the bra, except it’s like a 10-year experience.’
Blimey.
Before the metaphorical bras went flying, the actress also described how she burst into tears after filming her final scene as Daenerys.
‘I started to do a little speech, not because I’m a pretentious actor, but because every time we said goodbye to a character, David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], the showrunners would give us a gift and the crew would be around and everyone would stop and you’d sort of say a few words and it was really beautiful,’ Clarke said.
‘I mean, I got three words in before I just completely broke down. You just hold it in and you’re holding it in and you’re holding it in, and then I just burst into tears like a complete idiot.’
It isn’t just parting speeches which were made either, with Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark, recently revealing the grim present he received after filming concluded.
Game Of Thrones season eight kicks off 14 April on Sky Atlantic, HBO and is available to watch on NOW TV.
