The first look at the Game of Thrones cast’s long-awaited reunion special proves that co-stars Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner were always destined to become best mates.
The Stark siblings have been as close as sisters in real life on screen and off — whether it’s perfecting Ned Stark impressions, getting stoned in bathtubs, or more recently, celebrating major life milestones together.
And in a preview of a reunion special coming to Blu-Ray this December, behind-the-scenes footage from the show’s pilot in 2009 reveals that Maisie and Sophie’s friendship was simply inevitable.
“Me and Maisie are best friends on set. We met during auditions,” a 13-year-old Sophie says about Maisie. “I think we’re going to be friends for a long time.”
The footage of the young Starks may be adorable for fans, but Maisie and Sophie couldn’t help but cringe as they watched on.
“What are you doing to us? This is horrible,” Maisie joked.
Along with Maisie and Sophie, there were also shots of a young Isaac Hempstead Wright (aka Bran) and a pre-beard Kit Harington before they ever filmed the Game of Thrones pilot.
“I can’t wait to see what war will be like,” Hempstead Wright beamed at one point.

Fans also caught a glimpse of a notorious on-set prank Maisie and Sophie have discussed, where they pretended to kiss to throw off the crew between scenes.
The reunion special — which is hosted by chatshow presenter Conan O’Brien and also reunites the Stark children with their on-screen dad Sean Bean — will be released this December as part of Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection.
Game of Thrones aired on HBO in the US, and you can also catch up on the show via Hulu. Viewers in the UK can catch up via Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
