GOT Writer/producers David Benioff and DB Weiss have enraged some fans (Picture: 2017 Getty Images)

Angry Game Of Thrones fans have used Reddit channel ‘r/Freefolk’ to ‘Google bomb’ the TV show’s creators so they now come up when you search ‘bad writers’.

If a post on Reddit gets enough thumbs up from users, then it will show up near the top of a Google search. The effect is colloquially known as ‘Google bombing’ and can be used to influence results on the search engine.

GOT fans, who are clearly unhappy with the recent plot developments of episode five in season eight, took it upon themselves to make their feelings clear to the creators.

They titled a Reddit thread: ‘Bad Writers. Upvote this post so it’s the first result when you google “Bad Writers”.’

Then they included an image of DB Weiss and David Benioff, creators of the hit fantasy TV series which first aired in 2011 and ends next week.

As a result of titling the thread in this way and including an image of the two creators, Google automatically indexes the page so that when anyone searches ‘bad writers’ Weiss and Benioff will show up near the top.

The eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones is currently underway, with the penultimate episode airing tonight, 13 May, in the UK.

Most viewers try to stay away from spoilers before they get a chance to watch the latest episode of their favourite series, yet this particular Reddit community identifies as a spoiler-friendly gathering.

The ‘r/Freefolk’ channel is a breakaway from the main GOT Reddit community, which generally opposes any spoilers being shared.

This is why they call themselves ‘freefolk’, linking themselves to the ‘wildlings’ of the popular series and advocating the freedom to discuss whatever they like.

The group’s description says: ‘We believe people are mature enough to decide for themselves what content to view.

‘NOT A SAFE SPOILER ZONE, NEVER WILL BE’
