HBO will release a limited-edition Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection Blu-ray box set in December, including never-before-seen bonus features and a gorgeous wooden shadowbox case. A Game of Thrones: The Complete Series collection will also be available without the collectible packaging, and a stand-alone set of the season eight Blu-rays will also be released.
In addition to deleted scenes, cast and crew commentaries, and a DVD of the documentary Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, the complete series collections include an exclusive reunion special hosted by Conan O’Brien. The show, filmed in front of a live audience in Belfast, features cast members from the show’s entire run. Departed favorites like Sean Bean and Jason Momoa are back, alongside the stars of season eight like Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Kit Harrington, and Emilia Clarke.
The packaging on the Complete Collection was designed by Robert Ball, whose Beautiful Death series of illustrations based on the show’s most memorable kills are available in poster or puzzle form. Rather than a traditional box set with standard steelbook case, each disc sleeve features an illustration with strategically-placed cutouts. When stored together, the cutouts line up to show the animal sigil for each of Westeros’ great houses scrambling towards the Iron Throne. The set is held together with the iconic Hand of the King pin.
HBO hasn’t yet released pricing information for the new collections, though we can assume that the Complete Collection will be pretty pricey. They’ll be available on December 3, just in time to add to your holiday wishlist.
