Great British Bake Off star Laura Adlington has revealed that Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones contacted her during her time on the show.

Laura got to the final three of this year’s Bake Off and she’s had a tough time throughout the series as she received some negative comments on social media.

It was a pleasant and welcome surprise when Daenerys actress Emilia got in touch with Laura as she wished her well for the rest of the competition – and Emilia also mentioned that Laura was her favourite contestant on this year’s show.

During a recent appearance on spin-off show Extra Slice, Laura said: “Emilia Clarke, mother of Dragons from Game of Thrones, sent me a message.

“It just said, ‘Laura, me and my friends love you. Thanks for brightening up our lockdown. We hope you win’.”

Laura also revealed that Emilia may have even given her a new nickname.

“I think she called me a ‘baking queen’,” Laura added.

“So my life is now complete, quite frankly. Friends with Matt Lucas and Emilia Clarke. Doesn’t get better than that, does it?”

Elsewhere on Extra Slice, another Great British Bake Off finalist had some exciting news to share.

Dave Friday wanted to propose to his girlfriend Stacey on the show – so, after being prompted by host Jo Brand, Dave went up to Stacey who was in the audience.

“So this has been a very memorable year. Obviously the birth of Ronnie, being selected to be on Bake Off,” he said to her.

“I wanted to start the next chapter of our lives together. So, Stacey Lynn Valentine, I love you from the bottom of my heart. Will you marry me?”

Stacey said yes and the newly-engaged couple got a round of applause from the audience – while also being sprinkled with confetti (which was the cherry on the cake)!

The Great British Bake Off‘s latest series is available now on All4.
