Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner didn’t mind being paid less than Kit Harington on the show.
Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the show, felt Harington had ‘earned’ the money through grueling night shoots playing Sansa’s brother/cousin Jon Snow.
Admitting that it is ‘a little tricky’ to demand equal pay, she told Harpers Bazaar: ‘Kit got more money than me, but he had a bigger storyline.
‘And for the last series, he had something crazy like 70 night shoots, and I didn’t have that many. I was like, “You know what…you keep that money.”‘
Turner is reported to take home £158,000 each week while her co-star is said to earn £537,000.
And of her new-found activism thanks to her time with the character, she explained: ‘Initially I didn’t feel there was anything that stayed with me from all the things Sansa went through.
‘But though I think it hasn’t affected me emotionally, I did start thinking about the domestic abuse and rape, and it spurred this little part of me that might be an activist.’
Sophie has spoken in the past about how Sansa has changed going into the final season, becoming more of a ‘warrior’ after everything she has been through – even getting to don some armour in season eight.
She explained to Entertainment Weekly: ‘She buttons herself up. I wanted her to have a bit of armour and be a bit more warrior like. She’s like the warrior of Winterfell.’
According to the publication, her swanky battle gear is ‘more like a jet-black ensemble made of thick leather or similar material’.
Game Of Thrones returns 14 April on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
