Another morning, about report from the set of Game of Thrones season 8. This one involves a location from season 2: Cushendun Caves, best known as the chamber beneath Storm’s End where Melisandre gave birth to a shadow baby while Ser Davos Seaworth looked on, horrified.

The crew was only in the area for a short time last week, and had mostly cleared out by Friday afternoon. According to the ever-vigilant GoTlike Locations, the crew looked like it filmed both in the cave and on the nearby beach. Check out images from the set below:

Although we can’t get a great view from here, this video gives you a good idea of what the cave looks like up close:

What might HBO be filming here? It looks like they have a green screen on hand, so we can expect special effects. Is the shadow baby getting a little brother or sister?

That’s assuming we’re returning to the same cave where that happened in season 2. At the end of the day, a cave is a cave, and there are plenty of them in Westeros (even if this one has been nicknamed “Melisandre’s Cave” on TripAdvisor). One cave that comes immediately to mind is the one on Dragonstone where Jon Snow showed Daenerys the cave paintings of the White Walkers in season 7. Or perhaps this cave is located farther north.

Something interesting about this particular shoot was that there weren’t any pink “GoT” signs to be seen, although there were plenty of vans from G & H Film and Television Services, a firm known to work on the show. Also, it’s hard to be presume to camouflage when you have Game of Thrones stickers in your windshield:

Perhaps this was a quick pick-up shoot that didn’t necessitate signs. What do you guys make of it?
