Fans have been speculating for months that Jon Snow, whose father has been revealed as Rhaegar Targaryen, will finally succumb to temptation and get jiggy with Dany.

So does it happen in the finale?

Game Of Thrones finale: Does that theory about Jon Snow and Daenerys getting it on happen?

Yes, yes it does.

Jon (Kit Harington) and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) finally become intimate in the episode, titled The Dragon And The Wolf.

But given that Jon’s dad has now been revealed as Rhaegar, who is Daenerys’ brother, viewers were quickly horrified as it all clicked into place: Jon was having sex with his aunt.

The bombshell caused many fans to feel slightly queasy at the sex scene, which had been a highly-anticipated moment throughout the entire season.

However, the overall feeling was pure happiness as while they were watching incest, they were also watching Jon and Daenerys finally give in to temptation which they’d been rooting for for years.

Many thought their long-awaited union was poetic.

Which many pointed out the irony of hating seeing Jaime and Cersei Lannister have sex yet loving seeing aunt and nephew John and Daenerys.

Although not everyone was happy.

The explosive extended episode, which aired for 80 minutes instead of the usual running time of around an hour, also saw Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) abandon his twin sister and partner Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) after she fails to keep her promise about sending her fighters to help in the Great War.

Cersei had agreed to back Daenerys and Jon with the fight, but it was revealed she had no intentions to do so.

Game of Thrones airs in the UK at 9pm on Monday Sky Atlantic.
