Game Of Thrones star Carice van Houten has been cast in a new darkly comic thriller Temple.

The drama stars Mark Strong as Daniel, a surgeon with a heartbreaking past who treats anyone outside the system – for the right price. Van Houten plays Anna, a guilt-ridden medical researcher, who helps Daniel treat increasinGly desperate and highly dangerous patients.

British actor Daniel Mays also stars as disgruntled transport employee Lee who helps Daniel as his morality is tested to the limit.

The heartfelt drama is an adaptation by Mark O’Rowe of critically acclaimed Norwegian drama Valkyrien. It will air on Sky with production kicking off in September.

Temple has been described as ‘a story of fate, chaos and consequence and asks how far you would go to save the person you love’ and will see Strong also serve as executive producer.

The actor said: ‘Mark O’Rowe has created a complex and multi-faceted character in Daniel – a man pushed to the extreme as his world is radically destabilised.

‘Temple is a gripping and humane morality tale for our time.’

Carice is best known for playing Melisandre on Game Of Thrones, Stannis Bartheon’s right hand woman who was always on hand with an ominous word of warning.
