Will Jaime Lannister kill Cersei in season 8? (Picture: HBO)

*Warning: Major Game of Thrones spoilers below.

We’re pretty sure we’ve heard every theory there is at this point, but with Game of Thrones season eight about to kick off this Sunday, fans are eager to see what way the episode one will go.

Ahead of the new series premiere, the Kingslayer aka Jaime Lannister aka Nikolaj Coster-Waldau appeared on Jimmy Kimmy Live! and discussed all of the speculation around the show’s final run.

The Danish actor, 48, admitted that while some fan theories have guessed certain aspects correctly, none have actually ‘got the whole thing’.

‘I have read a few yeah, it’s interesting,’ Nikolaj told the host.

However, he did try to rule out some ideas to put fans’ minds somewhat at ease… or not.

Here’s what Nikolaj, the Kingslayer himself had to say about some popular Game of Thrones season eight theories.

Jaime Lannister will kill his sister Cersei

‘It makes sense though if you think about it. Next one.’

Hmm, Jaime’s reaction here suggests he agrees with how poetic outcome would be.

In the series, Cersei’s (Lena Heady) future was predicted by a witch who said she would be killed by the valonqar /younger brother.

While this was always thought to be Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Jaime was in fact born after Cersei even though they are twins.

Arya will use Jaime’s face to kill Cersei

‘That would be cool wouldn’t it.’

Cersei has been on Arya’s (Maisie Williams) kill list since season two and fans have been rooting for this epic showdown for years.

If Arya uses Jaime’s face it would mean Jaime dies, which a lot of people would not like.

But seeing both Jaime and Arya kill Cersei would make for a great episode let’s face it.

Jon Snow becomes the Night King

‘How?’ was all Nikolaj had to say about that one.

The theory here, from Reddit, speculates that Jon (Kit Harington) will stab himself with the dragonglass dagger used to transform the original Night King (Vladimir Furdik), thus taking his place and controlling the army of the dead.

Daenerys will transform into an actual dragon

Nikolaj didn’t even dignify this theory with a response.

We know it sounds mental, but it’s actually a really interesting idea and it relates to an interview Emilia Clarke gave with Vanity Fair where she said: ‘Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavour in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is…’

The Starks are descended from the White Walkers

‘Ok,’ was all Nikolaj had to say here.

This theory goes back to ancient times in A Song of Ice and Fire mythology which states House Stark was founded on a union between a human and a white walker.

Bran Stark is the Night King

This one got a ‘wow’ from Nikolaj.

Bran star Isaac Hempstead Wright has since slammed this idea, but it remains a popular theory among fans.

Referring to shoving Bran out of a window in episode one, Nikolaj added: ‘Think about it this way, what would the show be without that?

‘We wouldn’t have the Three-Eyed Raven, we wouldn’t have Hodor (Kristian Nairn) hold the door…’

Nikolaj brought up the Azor Ahai myth himself, saying: ‘I like the theory of Azor Ahai, the chosen one who will come back and save the day.

‘I think everybody thinks it’s Jon Snow but there’s also this thing about a guy called Bielsa…’

But before you freak out, he was jokingly referring to Leeds United manager Marco Bielsa.

Regardless of what actually happens Nikolaj promised the ending will be sad and satisfying, ‘sadisfying’ as he put it.

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on HBO on April 14 and will air on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on April 15.
