Game of Thrones stars share holiday messages, Pedro Pascal takes us behind the scenes of Wonder Woman 1984, Gwendoline Christie reads Neil Gaiman, and more!
Game of Thrones stars took to social media over the weekend to share their holiday cheer, and we’re here for it, starting with Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson’s adorable photo showing off the latest addition to his family:
Who knew the Mountain would one day have us all in our feelings?
John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) wished everyone a Merry Christmas alongside his friend Snowy, with a reminder that while the holidays are a bit different this year, there’s always hope for next year!
Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) also spread holiday cheer on Christmas Day:
Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) had something sort of important happen over Christmas Day: Wonder Woman 1984 came out on HBO Max and in theaters, and we got to see him as villain Maxwell Lord! Pascal shared some behind-the-scenes pictures on his Instagram (click over) and talked about how much he misses the amazing cast and crew.
Is it just me or do the vibrant, neon colors associated with this Wonder Woman movie always put a smile on your face?
Along with Wonder Woman: 1984, Pascal had another little side project going on this year: The Mandalorian season 2, which aired its epic finale just a couple of weeks ago. In the days since, fans have been incessantly talking about what comes next for Din Djarin. Pascal is as big a fan as anyone, and even picked up the last copy of The Mandalorian art book at this bookstore:
Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) has also been keeping busy lately, and recently lent her voice to a holiday radio adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sleeper and the Spindle which aired on BBC Radio 4 on Boxing Day (December 26). Christie played the role of a queen who is about to get married, but the night before, dwarves warn her of a sleeping spell about to be cast over the kingdom, so she embarks on a journey to put an end to the madness.
It also came with a promotional image where Christie gives excellent face, as per usual:
Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion) has left Westeros behind, but he’ll soon star in the BBC America series The Watch, based on the works of fantasy icon Terry Pratchett.
According to Dormer, this show is exactly what the world needs right now. “I’m quite confident that once they get into it, it will lift their spirits,” he told The New York Post. “It’s very dark times that we’re in. Every day I think of this quote that the show creator Simon Allen said: ‘In dark and troubled times it’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness.’ And I think that’s what this show does.”

Anyone watching His Dark Materials on HBO? The fantasy series was just renewed for a third and final season, which means we could see the return of Game of Thrones alum James Cosmo (Lord Commander Jeor Mormont) as Farder Coram, one of the leaders of the nomadic Gyptians, who helped hero Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen) in the first season but sat out the second.
“I really enjoy that show, especially working with Dafne,” Cosmo told CBR. “She’s a wonderful, young actress. The Gyptians weren’t in the second season, so I haven’t seen her in eighteen months or so. To see how much she’s growing into a young woman was absolutely delightful, and I had a great experience working with her. We’ve had some terrific directors working on it: Tom Hooper who was just a joy to work with. He’s a real actor’s director. I do hope I get asked back. You can never tell with adaptations and the Gyptians, but we’ll wait and see. I’d love to go back.”
Farder Coram does show up in the final pages of The Amber Spyglass, the third and final of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials books, but we’re not sure if the show will have him back.
Last but not least, Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) has just wrapped filming on Zack Snyder’s zombie heist flick Army of the Dead: The Prequel. Snyder himself tweeted out the good news, with Emmanuel in full costume:
Army of the Dead comes out next year. Snyder and company must be pretty confident if they’ve already made a prequel.
