  1. A TINY CORRECTION: Aegon did not force his children to marry, or his grandchildren for that matter, Jaheaerys and his sister fell in love, and they forced their own children, the future Mad King and his sister/wife to marry because of the prophecy. Aegon hated both instances, but tolerated them. In fact the reason why Duncan gave up the crown is because Lord Lyonel Baratheon rebelled against Aegon because Prince Duncan refused to marry his daughter and picked a peasant girl, thereby dishonored Lord Baratheon. In fact the princess that was wed to Lord Lyonel's son (as a sort of reparation) was King Robert's grandmother, and that gave Baratheons a claim to the Iron Throne. The story actually has a lot of cute details, like Aegon had another kid called Daeron who was gay just like Renly, and he was Renly's great-uncle.

I can see you are going with the show instead of the books by skipping Jaheaerys like GoT, but you do quote the books, and the whole story about the woodwitch and lineage prophecy comes from the books and does not exist in the show, so… There's that. Like, the part of the book that has Barristan say "Your grandsire commanded it." says that grandsire is Jaheaerys. So creating a weird mashup of the two kind of bothered the nerd in me, the one that forces me to write this 2 in the morning 🙂

  2. I love these videos so much. I'd love to see more lore videos. They don't always have to relate to a theory, but just to have the stories and histories of these characters and world. 🙂 It would be awesome!

  3. Definitely the weakest season IMO.

Even though Seasons 5 and 6 deviated from the books, and made some stupid changes, they were still great seasons of television nonetheless. I didn't get that same feeling with Season 7.

Season 7 for mine started off good, it all built up nicely to the 'Spoils of War' episode which was visually stunning, and that's where it peaked.

Episodes 5 and 6 in particular were very poor IMO. Episode 7 was ok, but not all that impressive either.

This season felt incredibly rushed, fast travel everywhere, really ruined the flow of the story, with the snap of a finger characters were popping up anywhere in Westeros they had to be. It should have at least been spread out properly over 10 episodes.

Some pretty dumb writing too; the Winterfell storyline was weak. Nothing quite compared to Episode 6 though. The whole idea to go beyond the wall to capture a Wight was extremely dumb. Chuck in Gendrys fast travel, Daenerys Dues ex Machina and the pointless return of Benjen… just a really, really poorly executed episode. It had the potential to be better than Hardhome, but it was nowhere near as good. Possibly the worst written episode in the series.

Anyway, I still love Game of Thrones, maybe not quite as much as I used to tbh, it's the earlier seasons I prefer, but it's still good now in its own way. Here's hoping for a strong season 8 to at least send the series out with a bang, it deserves that much at least, I mean if it finishes poorly that would be rather sad. Miguel Sapochnik is back to direct a few episodes so we should at the very least get a few pretty kickass battles.
