A video art project from me if you want to watch!
With Winterfell under siege and facing defeat, Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) rejects the advice of Maester Luwin (Donald Sumpter) to abandon the castle and flee to the Night’s Watch, and decides to fight to the death with his men. However, during a rallying speech, Theon is knocked unconscious by Dagmer (Ralph Ineson) and betrayed by his own men, who drag him off. Luwin, in an attempt to save Theon, is mortally wounded by Dagmer. Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and his party emerge from hiding to find Winterfell sacked and Luwin dying in the Godswood, where he declares his loyalty and love for the Starks before having Osha (Natalia Tena) end his life. Bran and his group then escape the ruined remains of Winterfell, bound for the Wall.

  1. For me, this is still the saddest death in GoT so far. Rickon and Bran were such cuties back then and maester Luwin was the kindest man of the series. So emotional, especially with the beautiful music. Still get tears in my eyes.

  2. Maester Luwin's cry/smile at 1:31 and his hand reaching out to Bran always gets me 😢 He know's he's about to die but he's happy knowing that he saw the two boys alive before he passes away.

  3. Poor Winterfell. It was hard enough seeing her like this, then in the hands of those loathsome Boltons. At least the godswood survived: the old gods helped the Starks take Winterfell back because she belongs to them.

  4. Imagine, the clues that the person torturing Theon was a Bolton was right in front of my face the whole time and I didn't think to put it together. This is one of them.

I did wonder to myself, why is Winterfell burning? I thought we saw the Ironborn on their way with an unconscious Theon.

And then, I didn't think anymore of it. I assumed I just missed something.

  5. Winterfell burns and everyone is gone. Ned, Catelyn, Robb, Sansa, Arya, Jon, Benjen, Master Luwin, Septa Mordane, Jory Cassel, Rodrick Cassel, Winterfell's garrisson, all the smallfolk, and the last ones to abandon Winterfell were Bran, Rickon, and Hodor.

  6. Leaving the ancestral home of the House of Stark is the hardest that could ever happen, but it is the consolation to know that at the end of season 6, the direwolf banners are hanging from the walls and battlements of Castle Winterfell one more time… 'This castle was once our seat of power, and so it has became once more! Let the Flayed Men and the Ironborn know this: never again will our ancestral home fall into Boltons' or Greyjoys' hands! The Castle of Winterfell has been reclaimed. For the House of Stark! For the House of Stark! For the House of STARK!!!'
