Game of Thrones Season 8 seems just over the horizon with less than 4 months left for it to air. We’ve already been treated with a teaser named Dragonstone and two actual footages from the season released by HBO. And, it’s not a surprise when one or the other team member teases the new season for you. This time it’s HBO’s Chief Richard Plepler who feels Game of Thrones Season 8 will be monumental with movie-length episodes.

Plepler while talking to the Variety post the Golden Globes on Sunday that he has seen the rough cut of the final six episodes i.e. without any special effects. He said:

“It’s a spectacle. The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie.”

“They knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe. Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.”

21st Webby Awards winners announced, Game of Thrones wins two!

This exactly matches with the kind of hype the cast members like Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Sophie Turner(Sansa Stark), and Gwendoline Christie(Brienne of Tarth) have made for the final season of Game of Thrones. Especially, Gwen who had teased the season by saying the fans would have to get therapy after the series ends.

Also, showrunner David Benioff had revealed at the Emmys this year why the season is taking such a long time to air. He had revealed to Digital Spy,

“The final season is taking a long time because it’s the biggest thing we’ve ever done…Even though it’s six episodes, it was nearly a full year in Belfast either prepping it or shooting it…It’s quite extraordinary what the crew and the actors created, and I think when people see it they’ll understand why it took so long.”

“No-one’s going on vacation or slacking off, it’s just that last season is far beyond what we’ve ever attempted before, and it is taking a really f**king long time – and I hope it will be worth it.”

This truly leads us to believe that though Game of Thrones didn’t air for more than a year and took so long for filming and special effects, it will be worth it! What do you guys think? Tell us in the comments.
