The Winter Olympics in Beijing is in full swing and curling is one of the most popular sports to watch.

And the only curling rink in the north of England, at the Flower Bowl entertainment complex in Barton, near Preston has devised a new game for the February half term break, to help you go from watching the professionals do it, to attempting the ice-sliding sport yourself.

Game of Stones is a mini version of curling, designed to give players a taste of curling and involves teams of four, with the aim of the game to slide the stones across the ice towards a puck. The curling stone that lands closest to the puck wins.

The course is shorter than the Olympic-sized rink, giving players a better chance of hitting the target.

The event, which is suitable for people aged eight and above, will run from Tuesday, February 15 to Thursday, February 24 and is fully accessible and wheelchair friendly.

A 45-minute mini game session is £10 per adult, £9 per senior and £8 per child.

It includes coaching and the hire of non-slip shoes and protective headbands.

Curlers can compliment their trip with a visit to one of the other activities at the Flower Bowl, including a game of crazy golf or bowling, watch a film at the boutique cinema are grab a bite to eat at one of the onsite restaurants.
