If the crazed fandom of HBO’s most popular show is any measure, it’s best to quickly grab tickets for the upcoming Game of Thrones dinner being thrown by Lately chef Becky Reams and chamber music group Salastina on January 19.
The duo will host the five-course meal in Reams’ Chinatown restaurant, making it the first evening event in its newly-expanded dining room. They’ve built a full Game of Thrones-inspired menu accompanied by actual music compositions from the hit show. The critically acclaimed series wraps up its final season beginning in April.
As a super fan, Reams dives deep into George R.R. Martin’s fictional world. She’ll begin with a fire and ice aperitif, named after Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series. The third course sails into the city of Braavos with faceless men, where octopus, squid ink tagliatelle, sea broth, thai chile, and grains of paradise are on the menu, while music “Valar Morghulis” plays in the background. Reams also planned a course for what’s considered the show’s most tragic episode. As Salastina plays “The Rains of Castamere,” Reams will serve the red wedding course.
LA’s restaurant obsession with television shows and movies is one for the times. Some are fairly promotionally-driven, including a recent Deadpool 2 pop-up, while others play to nostalgia, like the Saved By The Bell faux diner or the Star Wars-themed bar that went permanent on Hollywood Boulevard in 2017.
There are only 40 seats available and tickets are $175 per person. Costumes are encouraged, and the meal is BYOB with no corkage fee.
