Game of Thrones is ending what’s to come in life after Westeros for the cast? (Picture: HBO)

When you play the Game of Thrones, you live or you die – and then sooner or later, we’re going to have to move on.

The cast finished the show at the end of last year, and now we’re only a couple of months from seeing the epic show come to its nail-biting conclusion.

Luckily for us though, the cast will still be popping up here and there as they return to the modern world for some new and exciting projects.

Here’s what the cast have in the pipeline as their time in Westeros comes to an end…

Emilia will next turn up on a rom-com (Picture: Rex)

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke already found a place in another franchise – appearing as Qi’Ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story, however the film received mixed reviews and it is unknown whether she’ll ever reprise it.

On top of that, she’s due to appear in two films by the end of this year – a rom-com, Last Christmas, which is based in London, and Above Suspicion, which tells the true and shocking love story on a scandal in the Appalachian mountains.

Emilia is also currently the face of Dolce and Gabbana’s latest ad campaign, The Only One.

Kit Harington

Kit Harington has been spending as much time on the stage as he has on the screen, with his most recent role being in drama True West with Johnny Flynn in London’s West End.

Getting married last year to Rose Leslie, it appears that Kit has no immediate plans to return to our screens any time soon, instead enjoying a break and pursuing other projects.

Basically, we know nothing of the future of Jon Snow…

Peter Dinklage has more than enough work to keep him busy (Picture: HBO/Getty)

Peter Dinklage

Peter Dinklage’s performance as Tyrion Lannister will be one of the most marked of his career, but he clearly has no signs of slowing down with several acting roles already on the go.

He will be voicing the Mighty Eagle in the Angry Birds Movie 2, and will be Phil Betterman in The Croods 2 as well.

But he will also be appearing on screen, playing the role of Shorty in crime drama The Thicket, where he’ll be recruited by a man named Jack Parker as part of a rag-tag team trying to save his sister Lula from a team of murderous bank robbers.

His works of deception and manipulation will come in handy for another role The Dwarf, a period piece that will see him controlling the Prince he services in an Italian medieval court.

Sophie will be turning into an X-Man as Jean Grey (Picture: Rex)

Sophie Turner

Things are certainly going to be exciting for Sophie in 2019, once her time as Sansa Stark comes to an end.

While the early reviews and thoughts on the project have not been the most positive, Sophie is leading the cast in the new X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix, playing Jean Grey.

Drama Heavy is also in post-production so should be hitting screens soon, however details on the project are still yet to be known.

Finally, she’s been announced as the leading lady in thriller Girl Who Fell From the Sky, the true story of a 17-year-old who miraculously was the only survivor of a plane crash in 1971.

Maisie will be part of the team of New Mutants (Picture: Getty/Rex)

Maisie Williams

Arya Stark is full of wit and fight, and Maisie has been able to more than prove to match up to that on the screen as well as off it.

Once the show is over, she will next appear in The New Mutants, a new dark spin-off from the X-Men franchise, alongside stars including Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton and Split’s Anya Taylor-Joy.

She will play Wolfsbane, a young teen who discovers her abilities while being held captive in a secret lab.

What does the future hold for Lena? (Picture: Rex)

Lena Headey

Lena might be the most evil-yet-loving mother ever on Game of Thrones, but off-screen Lena’s charity work means she has been consistently fighting the good fight.

She has been a voice for a number of causes including mental health, the immigration crisis, animal rights and LGBT rights.

Her next film, The Flood, is currently in post-production and will be released later this year.

She will be telling the tale of an immigration officer who is left to decide the fate of an asylum seeker with a checkered and potentially dangerous past.

Nikolaj is becoming a bit of an action hero after Game of Thrones (Picture: Getty/Rex)

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Danish actor Nikolaj has three massive films in the making so he’s definitely keeping busy following the end of his time as Jaime Lannister.

By the end of the year, we will see him in Domino, a crime thriller based in the Netherlands where a police officer is seeking justice for his murdered partner.

He’s currently filming Suicide Tourist, another foreign language film, which follows an insurance detective whose latest investigation leads him into a weird world of bizarre suicides.

To cap it all off and to head to 2020 in style, he’ll be part of film The Silencing, another action film about an isolated hunter who partners up with a Sheriff in order to track down the man he believes killed his daughter.

So…he’s basically becoming a bit of an action hero. We can’t wait.

John Bradley’s calendar appears to have opened up (Picture: Getty/HBO)

John Bradley

John Bradley, in terms of official commitments, currently has no other official TV or film plans in the pipeline.

But hey, Samwell Tarly is a fan fave, so maybe he can appear in one of the spin-offs?

Or even still, perhaps the star is keeping his cards close to his chest and a major role could soon be on the horizon…

Gwendoline is due to film with Tilda Swinton this year in a new project (Picture: HBO/Getty)

Gwendoline Christie

As Brienne of Tarth, Gwendoline has been trained well in becoming a warrior – and it looks like that’s not going to go to waste in any way.

After signing up to the Star Wars franchise, Gwendoline has been voicing Captain Phasma in the spin-off TV series, Star Wars Resistance.

In 2019, she’s starring in The Personal History of David Copperfield, a drama alongside Ben Whishaw and Tilda Swinton.

Viewers have just under three months to wait before we can finally return to the Seven Kingdoms one last time.

Keeping us guessing until the very end, no one is sure who wins and who survives until the finale.

But at least we can rest assured that cast’s careers all look on pretty steady ground.

Game of Thrones returns 15 April on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
