The event takes place Feb. 21 and returns to J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot offices in Santa Monica.
Aidan Gillen, the Dublin native who portrayed the manipulative Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish on Game of Thrones, will be saluted at the 14th annual Oscar Wilde Awards, it was announced Friday.
The event returns to J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot offices in Santa Monica on Feb. 21 in its traditional Thursday night slot before the Oscars. The bash lauds those from Ireland — and some who are not — who contribute to film, television and music. Abrams will be back as host.
The Irish band VINCI is set to perform.
Gillen, 50, is starring in the Robert Zemeckis-produced Project Blue Book, which premieres Jan. 8 on History, and he’s in production on the next season of the BBC/Netflix series Peaky Blinders. He also can be seen on the big screen in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Gillen’s credits include HBO’s The Wire, the past two Maze Runner films and The Lovers (2017), and he earned a 2004 Tony nomination for his performance in The Caretaker. He’s also worked on stages on The West End and at the Dublin Gate Theatre.
“Aidan’s body of work is rich with a range of diverse and memorable roles that span television, theater and film,” said Trina Vargo, founder of the nonprofit U.S.-Ireland Alliance, which puts on the Oscar Wilde Awards. “While his career has taken him to London, Los Angeles and beyond, he has remained loyal to working in Ireland as well.”
Additional honorees will be announced in the coming weeks.
