Pedro Pascal‘s inclusion in the presenting lineup feels almost inevitable, considering how widely recognized the actor has become over the past decade. While Pascal now commands attention across film and television, many viewers still remember the moment he stepped into Game of Thrones during its fourth season in 2014.
Pascal portrayed Oberyn Martell, the younger brother of Doran Martell, the Prince of Dorne. Oberyn arrives in King’s Landing to attend Prince Joffrey’s wedding and strengthen Dorne’s standing in the realm. Yet the character’s motives reach deeper than diplomacy. Oberyn seeks vengeance against the Lannisters, whom he holds responsible for the death of his sister Elia Martell.
The storyline quickly became one of the season’s most gripping arcs. After Joffrey’s death leads to Tyrion Lannister being accused of murder, Tyrion chooses a trial by combat. Oberyn volunteers to fight for him, leading to a brutal confrontation with Gregor Clegane, known as The Mountain. The duel ends in a shocking moment when The Mountain crushes Oberyn’s skull with his bare hands.
Although Pascal appeared in only seven episodes, the character left a lasting mark on the series. Long before that breakout role, Pascal had already built a steady résumé. Appearances in shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Law & Order, The Good Wife, and Graceland showed an actor steadily sharpening his work.

The Academy is not only assembling a powerful list of presenters. The ceremony itself is expected to include nostalgic reunions and memorable performances. During a press conference on March 11, the Oscars’ creative team hinted at what viewers can expect. Executive producer Raj Kapoor revealed one surprise that fans had already begun speculating about (via PEOPLE):
There’s been rumors of what that [reunion] is, and we are very excited to announce that we have a Bridesmaids reunion that is going to be very special.
Another reveal targeted superhero fans. Executive producer Katy Mullan teased that audiences will see a gathering connected to one of the biggest film franchises in the world.
There’s also going to be a Marvel reunion for the superhero fans, so we’re gonna have superstars and superheroes. And there is also going to be an extraterrestrial on the stage, so you can figure that one out.
So here is a question worth tossing into the conversation. Could Pascal’s continued rise eventually bring him back to the Oscars stage not as a presenter but as a nominee? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
