I wouldn't make judgments and assessments based on the Morty's mind blowers or the inter-dimensional cable. They're hilarious, but they are a chance for the writers to be a little looser with their storytelling and humor. Some of it clearly isn't meant to carry over.

I'm new here, but I want to throw something out here that I saw suggested elsewhere  – that Morty is actually a young Rick and he will eventually turn into his own grandfather in an extended-generation-long time loop.  Rick referring to the picture of him holding the infant baby Morty triggering tears of nostalgia makes more sense in that kind of context.  Rick controlling Morty's development by selectively extracting "Morty's mind blowers" was a way of making sure he didn't get too distracted to be a consistently detached dickhead.

I wonder who is summer dating now? She is technically cheating on her husband from episode 1 since they didn't divorce she just left him. I also wonder is she pregnant and will they bring him back into the show and how things have changed with him since they have no power. Is the place still civilized or barbaric?
