The Game of Thrones universe continues to expand, and one of its long‑rumored spinoffs—the Nine Voyages of the Sea Snake—is still alive. Actor Steve Toussaint, who plays Lord Corlys Velaryon in House of the Dragon, confirmed in a new interview that the project remains “ongoing.” Initially conceived as a live‑action series, the prequel has since shifted to animation, allowing Toussaint to potentially voice a younger version of his character.

From live‑action to animation
Toussaint recalled how the project was first discussed during House of the Dragon Season 1: “When we were shooting season 1, it was mooted and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’d be great.’ And then I thought, ‘I can’t play 21 again. Oh shit, it’s too late.’ And then George [R.R. Martin] said to me, ‘Oh no, it’ll be animated.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, great.’ But that’s the last I heard.”
His remarks highlight how animation opens the door for him to reprise Corlys in his youth, exploring the legendary voyages that earned him the nickname “Sea Snake.”

Still a possibility in Westeros’ future
Toussaint added: “I saw George just a few weeks ago and as far as I’m aware, it’s ongoing. I don’t know what stage they’re at with it, but it’s still a possibility. But other than that, I don’t know.”
While details remain scarce, the project would join HBO’s expanding Westeros lineup, which includes A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2, an Aegon’s Conquest movie, and the ongoing House of the Dragon. If greenlit, Nine Voyages would mark the franchise’s first animated series, potentially exploring Corlys’ adventures across Essos and beyond.
