Star Wars will come to life on Disney’s streaming service Disney+ later this year in the form of The Mandalorian, which stars Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal as a lone gunfighter on the outer reaches of the galaxy. And while no firm premiere date has been announced, for the series or even Disney+, a source of HN Entertainment has it that the show has already been renewed for a second season.

Although it has plenty of shows lined up, including some set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Mandalorian is the headliner for Disney+, the show Disney seems to be most leaning on to get people to sign up. It’s Star Wars, for one thing, one of the most recognizable brands on Earth. It has some impressive cast members, too, including Nick Nolte (Graves) and Werner Herzog (Aguirre, the Wrath of God). And Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is helming at least one of the episodes. Given that it’s pouring so many resources into the show, it’s not too surprising that Disney would renew it sight unseen. It wants this show to be the jewel in its crown.

Or maybe it’s just a rumor, but we wouldn’t be surprised. We can probably expect something more firm at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago next weekend. Or if not then, then at the D23 Expo in the summer. Hang tight, we’re almost there!
