Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is currently in the pre-production phase, and the actors are gearing up for season 2. Ewan Mitchell’s Aemond Targaryen will play a significant role in the upcoming civil war, flying around on the biggest dragon in Westeros at the time. How Ewan Mitchell relates to Aemond?
In an interview with The Face, the House of The Dragon star talked about how he relates to Aemond Targaryen on a personal level, “There’s just something about the power of representing [him],” Mitchell said. “There’s a Johnny Cash music video, [for] God’s Gonna Cut You Down, and someone says in that that wearing black stands for the poor and the downtrodden. And that’s what Aemond is.”
He continued, “My friends call me The Iceberg because I’m seen as cool and collected. I don’t show too much. I’m just floating along the seas.”
What’s next for Ewan Mitchell in House of The Dragon?
Aemond has a bigger role to play in Season 2, after inadvertently starting the civil war in the previous season. House of The Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal hints at that by saying, “Ewan has lots of work coming his way in series two.” Ewan teased the fans and said, “Stay tuned. The best is yet to come.”
When will House of The Dragon return?
The filming of House of The Dragon season 2 is currently in pre-production, with several scripts being rewritten by George R. R. Martin. HBO chief Casey Bloys has confirmed in an indirect way that House of The Dragon won’t be coming back before the summer of 2024.
