Welcome to A Song of Dan and Josh, the show where myself and Joshua Hill talk through each and every chapter of George R.R. Martinâs A Song of Ice and Fire, breaking them down to discover what makes them tick.

This week, weâre diving deep into âTyrion I,â the first Tyrion chapter from A Clash of Kings. Watch below:
Things get kind of abstract on this one. Our topics include:
- Ser Mandon Moore of the Kingsguard either shows a lot of good sense or gets really lucky in the opening moments of this chapter.
- This chapter is one long game of one-upmanship. Tyrion puts one over on Cersei, and then on Joffrey, and then on VarysâŠbut does he? Climbing the ladder of power is a precarious business, and there are loose rungs every other step. We get into a pretty weird discussion about the nature of power, and how to wield it. I blame Varysâ riddle. It started this.
- Josh Hill: âI am 100% against incest.â Youâll have to watch to get the context.
- What exactly are Tyrionâs feelings towards Shae here? Lustful love or loving lust?
A Clash of Kings is a really good book. I canât wait to get to more Tyrion stuff.
Weâll be off next week, but A Song of Dan and Josh will return live on Wednesday, February 6 at 4:00 p.m. CST. Join us for a discussion of Bran I (A Clash of Kings) on our Facebook page!
