Know what movie you didn’t think you needed, but hey, maybe you do? A new remake of Pinocchio, courtesy of visionary director Guillermo Del Toro. Netflix has just released a new trailer for Del Toro’s upcoming animated retelling of the classic children’s story, and from the gorgeous visuals to Ewan McGregor’s voice work as Jiminy Cricket, it looks pretty fun. Which, to be honest, I did not expect to say, because who really thinks we need another version of Pinocchio?

It’s a trailer party up in here! Let’s watch:

There’s plenty of other fun stuff here. It looks like this retelling will include Pinocchio’s time spent as part of a circus run by the evil Ringmaster, which sounds like the kind of dark subversion of children’s storytelling that Del Toro love. Will anyone be turning into donkeys? We’ll find out when Pinocchio comes out on Netflix this December.

But we’ve more than just Pinocchio to watch this day. Next up is Samaritan, Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming superhero movie starring Sylvester Stallone:

Sylvester Stallone is a retired superhero in Samaritan

The basic premise of Samaritan is that Sylvester Stallone plays a superhero who retired for some unknown reason and now works as a garbage man. Having superpowers isn’t the kind of thing that stays buried for long though, and as he does stuff like defend his kid neighbor from thugs or survive getting hit by a car, it becomes obvious that his grizzled character is keeping a secret.

Will the Samaritan emerge from retirement to fight off gangs and other nasties (including Game of Thrones veteran Pilou Asbaek)? We won’t have to wait long to see; The Samaritan hits Prime Video on August 26.

Ken Liu’s Pantheon gets first look teaser at AMC+

Last up, we got treated to an extended first-look for the animated AMC+ series Pantheon. The show is based on short fiction from acclaimed fantasy author Ken Liu (The Dandelion Dyansty), and will explore sci-fi concepts like human consciousness uploaded to the cloud, global conspiracies, and more.

The clip primarily follows a teenager named Maddie (Katie Chang), who is getting help from a mysterious stranger online. As we find out in the clip, there’s much more to this stranger than meets the eye.

Pantheon is being animated by Titmouse Studio, and has a stacked voice cast that includes Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Dano, Rosemarie DeWitt, Aaron Eckhart, Taylor Schilling, Ron Livingston, Chris Diamantopoulos, Raza Jaffrey and William Hurt. It premieres on AMC+ on September 1.
