Game of Thrones has changed the lives of the entire cast of the show. Before the series premiered in 2011, many of the stars of the show were relative unknowns. But now, eight years later, the men of Game of Thrones are instantly recognizable. With only two episodes remaining, what does the future hold for the men of Game of Thrones?
Peter Dinklage
To say that Game of Thrones has been life-changing for Peter Dinklage would be a serious understatement. Dinklage has been nominated for an Emmy for his role every year since the show premiered, winning the statue three times.
Before Game of Thrones, Dinklage had an impressive resume, appearing in everything from Nip/Tuck to The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The 49-year-old actor will continue to take on a diverse selection of roles. You can hear him in The Angry Birds Movie 2, coming out this year and The Croods 2, set to come out next year. Dinklage is also slated to appear in The Thicket and The Dwarf.
Iain Glen
Like Dinklage, Iain Glen had a very successful career before Game Of Thrones. The actor appeared in several TV shows before playing Jorah Mormont on the hit HBO show, including a brief stint on Downton Abbey and a two-episode arc on Dr. Who.
Glen will reunite with fellow Game of Thrones co-star Lena Headey for this year’s The Flood. He has also completed filming on What About Love and Haven: Above Sky.
Kit Harington
Believe it or not, Jon Snow is Kit Harington’s first credited acting role. Since starting on Game of Thrones, the actor has taken on a few parts along the way, but not nearly as many as some of his Game of Thrones co-stars.
In 2012, Harington appeared in Silent Hill: Revelation. He followed that up in 2014 voicing Eret in How to Train Your Dragon, a role he reprised this year in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Currently, the actor has no other roles in the works, but we’ll be watching for new projects in the future.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has polarized fans since he pushed young Bran Stark from a window, nearly killing him in the premiere episode of Game of Thrones. Since then, the character has grown and changed immensely, winning over many loyal fans.
Coster-Waldau will star opposite Game of Thrones co-star Carice van Houten in this year’s crime thriller, Domino. You can also catch him in Suicide Tourist, Notat, and The Silencing.
Isaac Hempstead Wright
Isaac Hempstead Wright plays Bran Stark in the fantasy drama. Fans watched in horror as his character was tossed from an upper-story window in season one. Wright’s work has been sporadic since joining the cast in 2011, most of it coming in the form of voice work.
The actor currently has two projects in pre-production. Voyagers is a sci-fi thriller where the 20-year-old will appear opposite Colin Farrell. The action movie, The Blue Mauritius is also in the early stages of production.
John Bradley
Like many members of the cast, Game of Thrones was one of Bradley’s first acting roles. The actor has starred in several movies and television shows since grabbing the role of Samwell Tarly. Bradley currently only has one project on deck, Tale of the Wet Dog, which is currently in pre-production.
Liam Cunningham
Liam Cunningham joined the cast of Game of Thrones in 2012. Before becoming an actor in the mid-1980s, the Ireland native was an electrician. Cunningham saw a poster for acting school and decided to take the plunge.
Cunningham was arguably one of the most successful actors before joining Game of Thrones with over 100 acting credits to his name. He also has been credited as a director and a producer. Cunningham has three different projects in the works. The mini-series The Hot Zone will premiere later this year. The actor is also filming the movie Way Down and will be providing voice work for the video game Squadron 42.
