Richard Madden might have impressed viewers as personal protection officer David Budd in Bodyguard, but he made his name long before the BBC drama.

Game Of Thrones fans will likely recognise Madden from the HBO drama, in which he played Robb Stark.

Madden appeared as Robb in the fictional drama from 2011 to 2013.

Robb was in 22 episodes of Game Of Thrones but ended up meeting his fate during the infamous Red Wedding episode.

For those that don’t watch GOT – or just haven’t caught up yet – the Red Wedding episode focuses on the marriage of Roslin Frey and Edmure Tully.

But during the episode, Robb and his family are massacred, paving the end of Madden’s journey in Game Of Thrones.

Richard, 32, was born in Renfrewshire, Scotland, in 1986 and grew up in Glasgow.

He began acting with a local repertory company and working on stage, eventually being spotted by a team from the Globe Theatre, who promptly cast him as Romeo in a production of Romeo and Juliet – which later became their first touring production.

Madden soon landed a role in BBC series Hope Springs, before he was cast as Stark in GOT.

You might also recognise Madden from the likes of the 2015 live-action version of Cinderella – in which he played Prince Charming – the BBC series Birdsong and Channel 4’s Sirens.

More recently he appeared in the movie Bastille Day alongside Idris Elba, as well as Netflix’s Ibiza, as a DJ who catches the eye of a trio of women on a trip to the famous holiday resort.

You’ll be seeing him next in the Elton John biopic Rocketman, due for release in 2019.

And now, following Bodyguard’s first episode on Sunday night, Madden has been tipped as a contender to be the next James Bond by viewers.

The Scottish actor kept the audience on the edge of their seats as David Budd, a volatile war veteran assigned to protect Home Secretary Julia Montague, whose views on national security and war are very different from his own.

Richard previously dated former Doctor Who actress Jenna Coleman, although they split in 2015.

More recently he has been linked to actress Ellie Bamber, with the pair’s romance first coming to light after they were seen together in Ibiza last summer.

More recently they were seen leaving the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party hand-in-hand.

Ellie is known for her role in the movie Nocturnal Animals, and will be seen next in the BBC’s adaptation of Les Miserables as Cosette.
