As much as we want to delay the inevitable, HBO’s critically acclaimed fantasy series “Game of Thrones” is headed for its eighth and final season.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels, the hit show has catapulted most of its previously unknown cast to Hollywood superstardom.

But as much as fans want to see the show to carry on, actress Maisie Williams revealed that she actually can’t wait for the series to end.

The 20-year-old, who brings the fan-favorite “Arya Stark” to life, recently spoke to BBC Newsbeat about pursuing other projects after “Game of Thrones.”

“I’m really excited for ‘Game of Thrones’ to finish, and there’s going to be time for me to do whatever I want,” she was quoted as saying at at the British Independent Film Awards nominations event.

“That’s just incredibly exciting, and it will be nice to pick roles that I want to do,” she added.

As intricate as the fictional world of Westeros can be, the show definitely takes a considerably large chunk of time to film and produce—which hinders actors from pursuing other ventures.

Williams also revealed that she has just started  her own production company and hopes to work on more independent films in the coming years.

“I can show the world what sort of actress I want to be and shape my career a little bit,” she said.

Much like her feisty character in the show, Williams understands the challenges ahead of her and looks forward to the next chapter of her career once the show wraps up, presumably sometime in 2019.

“On one hand it’s really nerve-wracking to know that I won’t have that support blanket and safety net,” she said. “But on the other hand I’m free.”  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
