Criminal season 2 dropped on Netflix today and with it we finally have Kit Harington’s first major TV role since Game of Thrones.
And the 33-year-old is unrecognisable, shedding Jon Snow’s signature armour to play smarmy businessman Alex Daniels, who is interrogated by detectives over accusations of sexual assault from a colleague.
Criminal’s second run is made up of four episodes, each with a different suspect in the hot seat grilled by detectives Natalie Hobbs (Katherine Kelly), Tony Myerscough (Lee Ingleby), and Vanessa Warren (Rochenda Sandell).
Kit is joined by Kunal Nayyar – who’s shed all traces of his The Big Bang Theory past – Sharon Horgan and Sophie Okonedo, each determined to prove their innocence – or not, as the case may be.
When it comes to Alex, he’s pretty vulgar and rude, but is he a sexual predator?
That’s for the detectives to decide, but as for Kit’s first role since Jon Snow was banished to The Wall, viewers have given their verdict:
Kit went the extra mile to make sure he got his character as spot on as possible – even buying parts of his outfit to make sure he was portrayed as the ‘ultimate banker w***er’.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Shubham Saraf, who plays detective Kyle Petit on the show, said: ‘He brought his own character’s socks. Those socks, he picked them out because he was like “they’re banker w****r socks!”
‘I was like, “that’s sick! That’s so cool”.’
‘The fact that he told us that is so cool,’ added Rochenda Sandall, who plays fellow investigator Vanessa Warren. ‘He was awesome.’
‘With Kit Harington getting to play – to put it impolitely – a real d**k, was amazing because he’s so honorable as Jon Snow and he’s been tied to that piece for so long,’ she added.
‘I could just see him really embracing it and enjoying it. So yeah, it was fun to watch.’
Criminal is available now on Netflix.
