From talent to comedy star
Dexter Sol Ansell was just 9 years old when filming began on season 1, and now he is 11. Parker notes that Ansell was already an “amazing dramatic actor” from the very beginning. However, as production moved into season 2 earlier this year, the young performer’s comedic timing and delivery have grown significantly.
“He has matured so much in a comedic sense in the last two years — like he is making me piss laughing all the time this season coming around.”

A deliberate comedic education
To help nurture Dexter’s comedic abilities, the production team gave the young actor a special “comedy curriculum.” This included watching episodes of the hit sitcom Arrested Development, with a particular focus on teaching sarcasm and deadpan reactions. Parker jokingly added that if viewers notice any especially sharp Egg reaction shots in season 2, they’ll now know exactly why and where they came from.
Dexter’s natural growth as both a dramatic and comedic performer bodes well for the future of the Dunk and Egg series.
