Game of Thrones stars Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams have portrayed sisters Sansa and Arya Stark for seven, going on eight seasons now. The two are best friends outside of the show, and usually find ways to make their fans laugh with shenanigans like dressing up as pot brownies for Halloween (a couple of years back).
The two are very close, and in season 7, were able to film scenes together for the first time since Arya was taken from King’s Landing by Yoren of the Night’s Watch, right after Ned Stark was executed in season 1. Being reunited has afforded the pair plenty of opportunities to have fun with the cast and crew of Game of Thrones, and they took full advantage of that while filming season 8.
Recently, Turner and Williams were featured on the cover of Glamour Magazine together, and talked about their close friendship, as well as revealing how they pranked the crew. “People always think Maisie and I are a couple,” Turner said. “I mean, I am obsessed with her, so you never know… I’ve got an addiction to Maisie Williams.”
I actually stalk her hashtag on Instagram! Even though we are sisters [in Game of Thrones], we tried to sneak a kiss into every scene we did together to freak everyone out a bit. It kept them on their toes’ making sure they were following the script.
Turner expounded on just how close she and Williams are, saying: “Maisie is definitely my protector and I’m hers, too. I know if anything happened – especially if it was on Game of Thrones, which it never, ever would – she’d go crazy and protect me… Maisie is my strong home.”
For Williams’ part, she’s thankful that Turner is there for her whenever she needs her. “She really helped me through some messy break-ups and some friend break-ups. Whenever I’m like, ‘I need help! This is bigger than anything I can sort out on my own,’ Sophie is my point of call.”
Williams, rocking the pink hairdo, talked about not feeling pretty because of how her character usually looks on the show. “I’ve never felt very pretty because I’ve never been portrayed as very pretty on screen,” she said. “I actually think that’s really great, but in terms of how I personally feel, it’s been difficult sometimes.”
You’ll always be beautiful to us, Maisie. We’ll be able to catch Turner and Williams in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, when it premieres on April 14. Not long now, y’all.
